History

HMS Prince, sometimes known as the Royal Prince, was among the most formidable warships of her time. This 100-gun 'first rate' ship of the line served as the initial flagship for the Lord High Admiral of the Royal Navy, the Duke of York.

Launched in December 1670, she was frequently involved in major naval battles, sustaining damage multiple times and requiring at least two reconstructions.
